Arms and Armor

Back to Empire of the Sun: Main Page

All weapons and armor in Empire of the Sun fall into 4 broad categories: Star-Forged, Sun-Forged, Old Bronze, and Base.

Base

Most equipment is Base. It degrades and breaks at a higher-than-normal rate. It is made of (in the case of armor) wood, soft leather, and cloth, and (in the case of weapons) wood, stone, and copper.

Base equipment has the statistics of Tier 1 weaponry and armor.

After a scene in which a Base piece of equipment is used, roll 1d6. On a 1-3, that equipment becomes Degraded, and must be repaired before it can be used again with its full statistics. Degraded weapons deal only d4 damage; Degraded armor has base thresholds of 2/4 and (1) armor slot.

Old Bronze

This equipment is rare and valuable. In most cases, Old Bronze equipment is antique, a holdover from forgotten kingdoms and legacies.

Old Bronze equipment may be found in Tier 1 and Tier 2 varieties. It does not degrade.

Old Bronze is never sold, only stolen or passed down. It is often priceless; if a price must be given, it will only be sold as if it were a Tier 4 piece of its same class.

Sun Forged

This equipment is common among the ranks of the Shining Legion. It is made of iron specifically treated on a Sun-Tempered Forge; the secrets of its manufacture are carefully guarded. It is blessed so that it may never be used against the servants of Mithras the Uncreated, God of the Sun.

Sun Forged equipment may be of any tier. It does not degrade. Sun-Forged weapons deal only d4 damage against servants of Mithras; Sun-Forged armor has base thresholds of 2/4 against them.

The GM will determine who “counts” as a servant of Mithras on a scene-to-scene basis; this information is typically obvious to player characters.
